The Nigeria Police Force has refuted claims by Mr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, that he was arrested by police authorities. Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that Mr. Gado was merely invited for questioning regarding a petition lodged against him, and any claims of arrest are misleading and unfounded.

“The police received a petition against Mr. Gado on Friday, January 17, 2025, through the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit,” Adejobi said. “Following standard investigative protocols, he was invited to engage with officials as part of due process in addressing the allegations. Mr. Gado, as a public servant and respected individual, is expected to cooperate with the investigation rather than seek to generate undue media attention.”

The Force PRO urged the media and the public to refrain from spreading misinformation that could create unnecessary confusion or alarm. He emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring due process in all investigations.
