Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested five suspected members of a notorious ‘one-chance’ robbery syndicate operating in Port Harcourt. The group, which includes three females and two males, was apprehended after robbing a female victim along the Eastern Bypass area of the state capital.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, identified the suspects as:
- Ifeanyi Ugo (45, male)
- Paulina Ibe (45, female)
- Nneka Precious Sunday (30, female)
- Christopher Ibe (31, male)
- Oyinyechi Ibe (48, female)
The police also recovered the gang’s operational vehicle, a green Volkswagen Vento saloon car with registration number ANAMBRA FGG 40 AA. According to Iringe-Koko, the Surveillance Patrol Team attached to the Hyper City Unit responded to a distress call on January 28, 2025, at about 7 PM. The victim, a resident of Federal Housing Estate, Trans-Amadi, reported that her phone had been stolen by the suspects.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the suspects, along with the recovered vehicle, are in police custody. The Rivers State Police Command has reassured the public of its commitment to combating ‘one-chance’ criminals who pose as taxi and tricycle operators to rob unsuspecting passengers.
