Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it will, in unison with the people of Zamfara State, resist any attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the by-election in Kaura Namoda South Constituency.
Addressing reporters in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba alleged the ruling party of attempting to intimidate voters and rig results ahead of Thursday’s rerun in five polling stations.
Ologunagba maintained that Kaura Namoda South was a PDP stronghold, and that evidence already available indicated the party led when INEC cancelled the election and called it inconclusive.
The PDP and the good people of Zamfara will not, and I say it again, will not accept any outcome that is against the will of the people already expressed at the polls. Enough is enough of APC shenanigans,” he maintained.
He also accused the APC of using the large security presence of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Mobile Police, and DSS for just five polling units, referring to the act as a “dangerous militarization of democracy.”
Ologunagba also alleged that the plan was purportedly masterminded by a serving Zamfara State minister, warning that the interference had the capacity to throw the state into chaos.
“We have intelligence that the APC plans to deploy security agencies to intimidate INEC officials and take over the electoral process. Nigerians and the world must hold the APC accountable if there is any breach of law and order,” he continued.
