Well-known Nigerian pastor, Femi Lazarus, has defended his charging of $150 for his School of Ministry after being criticized by singer Timi Dakolo.
The drama began after Pastor Lazarus criticized the outrageous fees some gospel artists demand for performances. Timi Dakolo fired back, pointing out that the pastor also collects a fee for his school of ministry.
A social media user, @Deeemaths, questioned Lazarus about the fee, asking, “But you charge $150 for your school of ministry? Please can you shed more light on it, sir? I thought it’s ministry?”
Pastor Lazarus responded succinctly: “Yes o, it is a school.”
His reply caused divided reactions online. Although some were in his favor, others opined learning ministry must not have any cost.
A user, @ozee.oma_, tweeted, “Timi Dakolo needs to sit this one out!!”
Another, @dorothy_chris13, defended the pastor, stating, “People just want to argue and not to know! Pastor Femi, abeg no respond again. We get you and love your teachings. More wisdom, sir!”
Critics like @mr.agugua, however, questioned the practice, asking, “But God called you for free. Why must somebody pay to know God’s teachings through you?”
