Oyebanji Urges APC Members to Mobilise Support, Embrace Peace Ahead of 2026 Governorship Poll

Ekiti state governor

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify their efforts at mobilizing the party’s support towards the 2026 governorship election.

Addressing in Ado-Ekiti while the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association was presenting him the APC expression of interest and nomination forms for his re-election attention formally, Oyebanji warned that if loyalists in the party failed to rise to the challenge, God could make non-political forces emerge to take their place.

The governor, who described the action as a wake-up call, commended the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group for BAO, reaffirming that his administration would keep the state on its toes and continue to provide an enabling environment for the university to thrive.

He cautioned against violence when political activities intensify, urging APC members not to respond with violence when provoked.

Their opponents can lie, provoke or cause trouble but we cannot retaliate. We need peace in this state. They can’t fight us on the ground of performance so they will try to engage us in unnecessary conflicts,” he said.

Oyebanji assured that his records and self-belief of Ekiti people will be enough to triumph at the polls, going further to say that the development of the state should not be sidetracked with break-ins.
