Osun State to Distribute Free Condoms and Lubricants on Valentine’s Day to Promote Safe Sex

Governor Adeleke

In a bid to promote safe sex and curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, the Osun State government has announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at selected malls and lounges across the state on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. The initiative, spearheaded by the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), aims to raise awareness about HIV prevention and encourage responsible sexual practices.

Olusegun Daramola, the executive secretary of O-SACA, emphasized the importance of making informed choices, especially on a day known for romantic celebrations.

“To support safe practices, the agency will provide condoms and lubricants at selected locations, including malls and lounges.

Please approach our vendors to access these valuable resources. Let’s share love, not the disease,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Daramola also urged residents to avoid unprotected sex and get tested to know their HIV status.

“It’s essential to avoid risky behaviors, such as unprotected sexual intercourse. We encourage those who haven’t already done so to get tested and know their status,” he advised.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to reducing HIV prevalence, he noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is dedicated to tackling the public health challenge and working toward ending AIDS by 2030.
