Omu-Aran Social Club, Irepodun Local Government of the Kwara State, has laid the foundation for a N100 million, 20-bed capacity hospital building at Omu-Aran General Hospital.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, the club’s president, Ambassador Mohammed Abioye, said in his speech that the project was conceived to enhance the delivery of healthcare, improve community well-being, and foster socio-economic development within the area. He added that it was a follow-up to consultations with hospital management as well as the Kwara State Ministry of Health.
Abioye also mentioned that at completion, the facility will operate concurrently with the state government’s planned upgrading of the hospital to teaching hospital status in collaboration with Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese. Abioye also urged the state government to extend its urban renewal program, currently centered in Ilorin, to Omu-Aran.
Irepodun LGA Chairman Hon. Abdulazeez Tinuola expressed the council’s pledge, appreciating Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for encouraging community efforts.
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, His Royal Majesty Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, praised the club for prioritizing human capital and community development and urged other people and groups to emulate the act.
Similarly, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Oguntoye Caleb, described the project as light at the end of the tunnel towards enhanced healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
The foundation-laying was done simultaneously by Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, the Olosi of Osi, Oba Solihu Adasofegebe, Hon. Abdulazeez Tinuola, and Dr. Oguntoye Caleb.
