Omipidan Reveals Backstory of His Appointment as Oyetola’s CPS in New Book

In his newly unveiled book, Persona Non Grata, Olawale Omipidan shared insights into his journey leading up to his appointment as Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, in 2019. Posting an excerpt on his Facebook page, Omipidan recounted a conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2018, prior to his appointment. He also detailed his voluntary efforts during the 2014 Osun gubernatorial election, where he supported then-Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s re-election bid.

“In 2014, I set up a six-man media team six months before the election to intervene on Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s behalf. I funded the team entirely and used my Facebook timeline to support him. When the election was over, my team asked when we would go to Osun to celebrate. That’s when I revealed I had no link with the government and was self-funding. They were shocked,” he wrote.

Reflecting on his 2019 appointment, Omipidan revealed his understanding of the challenges faced by his party during the 2018 election, noting that he had clear insights into the dynamics before joining Oyetola’s administration.
