Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has spoken out in defense of Burna Boy following backlash over an incident during the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown Concert. The Afrofusion superstar faced criticism after kicking a fan who unexpectedly ran onto the stage during his performance.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Odumodublvck justified Burna Boy’s reaction, citing concerns about personal safety in such unpredictable situations.

He argued that the criticism was unfair, given the potential risks involved.

“If that guy had a knife and, God forbid, he did anything to Odogwu, the same people talking would say, ‘Shebi he gets money, why didn’t security do bla bla bla.’

Let’s at least speak with honest minds sometimes. Not everything is banter.

I know it’s New Year, but that doesn’t mean foolishness should continue. Abeg, abeg,” the rapper wrote.

The comment has sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans agreed with Odumodublvck’s perspective, others continued to criticize Burna Boy for his handling of the situation. The incident occurred during Burna Boy’s performance at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), a highlight of the annual New Year celebration in Lagos.

A video of the moment went viral, showing the Grammy-winning artist kicking the fan before walking off stage in apparent frustration. In response to the controversy, Burna Boy explained his actions, revealing that he suffers from PTSD, which can be triggered by unexpected events on stage.

He urged fans to respect his boundaries and expressed gratitude for their support. The concert, which featured performances from top Nigerian artists such as Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, and Seyi Vibez, celebrated the New Year across Lagos’ five IBILE divisions, including Ikorodu, Badagry, Agege, and Epe.
