Nigeria’s Power Generation Hits 5,713MW, Highest in Four Years – TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the country’s power generation reached a new peak of 5,713.60 megawatts on Tuesday, March 4, 2025—the highest recorded in the last four years.

In a statement, TCN confirmed that the milestone marks a significant achievement for Nigeria’s power sector, surpassing the 5,543MW recorded on February 14, 2025, by 170.40MW.

“This was recorded on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 21:30 hours, with the new generation peak of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW), surpassing the previous peak generation of 5,543.20MW achieved on February 14, 2025, by 170.40MW,” the statement read.

While this figure is still 88MW below the all-time highest generation of 5,801.60MW recorded on March 1, 2021, TCN emphasized that it remains a notable achievement.

Additionally, the company revealed that Nigeria also set a new record for daily energy generation, reaching 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh), exceeding the previous record of 125,159.48MWh recorded on February 14, 2025, by 382.58MWh.
