Nigerian Tech CEO Dies After Car Driver Refuses to Help Due to Fear of Bloodstain

A Nigerian technology entrepreneur named Adetunji Opayele, affectionately known as TeeJay, has passed on after being struck by a vehicle while on his bicycle, as reported in a now viral petition.

Biola Adams-Odutayo, the driver, allegedly turned down the chance to take him to the hospital for fear his blood would spot her car.

The accident, which has drawn widespread anger, happened on March 4, 2025, along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

TeeJay, Bumpa’s Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Bumpa, had a workout at iFitness gym and was heading home when he was knocked down.

According to a petition demanding justice for TeeJay, Biola, who was driving a car with registration number LND 418 JR, entered the expressway without caution for oncoming traffic and collided with him at around 10:20 PM.

Despite being fully dressed in protective gear, TeeJay was knocked unconscious on impact.

Witnesses immediately came to his rescue and pleaded with Biola to help take him to hospital, but she allegedly refused to step out of her car.

Her friend allegedly told onlookers, “She doesn’t want blood to stain her car.”

Amazingly, Biola, a medical doctor and Health Head of a reputable insurance brokering firm, remained on the line for over 30 minutes, showing no sense of urgency to respond to the injured man.

With Biola refusing to attend to him, witnesses attempted to get a vehicle that would carry TeeJay in.

Many vehicles refused to stop their vehicles until, after a lot of coaxing, an Uber driver finally agreed to do so.

But the terror would go on—two hospitals refused to admit him.

With no alternative, the rescuers returned to the scene of the accident and placed TeeJay in a minibus (korope). They took Biola with them, hoping that the presence of his wife would intimidate further refusal.

She purported to remain only because bystanders forcibly kept her with them, especially as she had already arranged to have her vehicle towed from the scene.

Around 11:30 PM, TeeJay’s brother received a call about the accident and proceeded to the location.

A Good Samaritan who had secured TeeJay’s property gave them over to him and took him to the hospital.

Tragically, despite all their efforts, TeeJay was pronounced dead around midnight.
