Nigerian Passport Ranks 95th in Global Travel Freedom

The Nigerian passport is among the least powerful in the world, according to the 2024 Henley Passport Index. The index, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), measures the number of countries that a passport holder can visit without a visa.

Out of 199 passports and 227 destinations, the Nigerian passport scored only 46, meaning that Nigerians need a visa to enter 181 countries.

This is lower than its West African neighbors, Ghana, Benin, and Togo, which scored 76, 79, and 83, respectively.

South Africa is the highest-ranked African country, with a score of 108. Japan tops the list with a score of 194, followed by Singapore, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, which share the second spot with a score of 193.
