Nigeria Reopens Embassy in North Korea After COVID-19 Suspension

Nigeria has reopened its embassy in Pyongyang, North Korea, becoming the second African nation after Egypt to maintain a diplomatic presence in the country.

According to NK News Nigeria and North Korea continued diplomatic relations through Nigeria’s mission in Abuja during the embassy’s closure, which was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Imologhome, who recently arrived in Pyongyang, confirmed plans to fully resume operations at the embassy.

Diplomatic ties between Nigeria and North Korea date back to 1976, and both nations have sustained their relations despite the temporary closure.

Earlier in December, Russia’s embassy in Pyongyang noted via a Telegram message that Nigerian representatives, alongside officials from India and other countries, attended an event marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
