The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has impounded 8,000 bottles of Akuskura, a medicinal mixture suspected to contain forbidden drugs, and 48 blocks of Cannabis sativa.
This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, in a Tuesday statement, announcing the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect, Ali Muhammad, over the consignment.
As affirmed, the seizure occurred along the Zaria–Kano highway at Gadar Tamburawa, where a trailer carrying goods from Lagos to Maiduguri was stopped and searched.
“The trailer had tricycles (Keke Napep), and the drugs were hidden between the units and under a wooden canopy. NDLEA officers found the substance because they were diligent and dedicated,” Maigatari said.
The Command also announced that the exhibits and the suspect have been arrested by NDLEA for investigation and further laboratory test. It also urged the public to remain cautious and report suspicious consignments or drug-related activity immediately at the nearest office.
