Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reiterated his administration’s determination to place the state among Nigeria’s fastest-growing economies through strategic investment in infrastructure, agriculture, innovation, and trade.
Addressing the gathering through his deputy, Barr. Bayo Lawal, at the opening ceremony of the Oyo State International Trade Fair EXPOYO 2025 Governor Makinde noted that the government has, since 2019, been targeted in its infrastructural development, agribusiness, and investment-friendly policies in a bid to build a resilient and inclusive economy.
Themed “Achieving Food Security and Economic Stability in Oyo State Through Massive Investments in Agriculture,” the trade fair offers a platform to propel the state development agenda.
Makinde stated that the state’s investments in inter-zonal road networks, energy infrastructure, and security infrastructure are at the core of its vision to achieve food security and attract both local and foreign investors. He also cited ongoing projects like the State Industrial Park and policy reforms to ease doing business and eliminate trade disruptions.
“We’re focused on building a sustainable ecosystem where businesses, both large and small, can thrive. Our administration is also committed to creating a green economy that encourages renewable energy and environmentally responsible practices,” the governor said.
He also said that the fair provides an avenue for local businesses to enter global markets and for the state to expand its share of trade in the region and on the continent, including through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Mr. Adeniyi Adebisi, also speaking, called on investors, exhibitors, and stakeholders to take advantage of the event to establish partnerships, share ideas, and drive innovation.
