The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Stella Nwadigbo, 45, for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil at a primary school in the Ikorodu area of Lagos. Nwadigbo appeared before Magistrate Court 1 in Ogba on January 9, 2025, after a disturbing video of her assaulting the child went viral on January 8.

Upon receiving the video, the Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Ikorodu Police Division promptly arrested Nwadigbo on the same day and transferred her case to the Gender Unit at the Command Headquarters for further investigation. The child was taken to a medical facility for treatment following the incident.

The teacher was charged with indecent treatment and assault of a minor. During the arraignment, Nwadigbo pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate O. Kushanu granted her bail set at ₦200,000 with two sureties of the same amount.

Nwadigbo has been remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Facility pending the continuation of the case, scheduled for February 18, 2025. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, commended citizens for promptly reporting the incident.

He reassured the public of the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Lagos.

“The swift response to this case reflects our dedication to protecting vulnerable members of society and holding offenders accountable,” the Commissioner said.
