American rapper and billionaire Kanye West, also known as Ye, has sparked conversations on social media by disclosing that he was offered $2 million to endorse a cryptocurrency scam. West, who recently made headlines for stopping traffic for his wife’s photoshoot, explained that the scheme involved posting a fraudulent promotion and later claiming his account had been hacked.
According to West, the scam was designed to deceive his millions of followers, leading to potential financial losses for those who fell for it.
“I was proposed 2 million dollars to scam my community. Those left of it. I said no and stopped working with their person who proposed it,” West stated in a viral tweet on Friday, February 7.
To support his claim, the rapper shared a screenshot detailing the fraudulent plan, which involved promoting a “fake ye currency.” The proposal outlined that West would receive $750,000 upfront for an eight-hour advertisement. After that period, he could claim his account was hacked, distancing himself from the promotion. A final payout of $1.25 million was scheduled to follow 16 hours later.
