Kaduna Group Backs Governor Uba Sani, Calls for Probe into El-Rufai’s Administration

The Kaduna Advocate of Good Governance has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Governor Uba Sani while criticizing former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over his recent social media remarks. The group dismissed claims that Governor Sani’s backing of President Bola Tinubu’s administration was driven by sycophancy, insisting instead that it was a strategic move in the best interest of Kaduna State.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna yesterday, the group’s coordinator, Aliyu Ibrahim, urged anti-corruption agencies to investigate the financial management of Kaduna State during El-Rufai’s tenure. He argued that such a probe would enhance transparency and accountability in governance.

“If El-Rufai claims to be a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but feels uneasy about Governor Uba Sani’s alignment with the Tinubu administration, he should clarify his political stance rather than undermine the governor’s leadership,” Ibrahim stated.

The group also commended Governor Sani for securing a ₦150 billion federal reimbursement for Kaduna State, describing it as a landmark achievement that highlights his leadership and negotiation skills.

“Governor Uba Sani deserves to be celebrated, not criticized. This reimbursement is a major victory for Kaduna State and demonstrates his commitment to the welfare of the people,” Ibrahim added.

The group’s statement follows comments made by El-Rufai on social media platform X, where he appeared to question Governor Sani’s political approach. The Kaduna Advocate of Good Governance expressed concerns over what it termed an attempt by El-Rufai to wield undue influence over his successor.

“When a former governor, after completing his tenure, attempts to control his successor’s administration, it raises serious concerns about democratic principles,” Ibrahim noted.
