The federal government has announced Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed this announcement. He extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both within Nigeria and abroad on this significant occasion.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim community to use this period for prayers, seeking lasting peace and a more prosperous and equitable nation. He also urged Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this time.
