Industry Stakeholders To Assist to Enhance Nigeria’s Food Value Chain for Economic Growth

For the purpose of assisting Nigeria’s food value chain and encouraging economic growth, industry stakeholders are meeting at the Nigeria Food Summit (NFS) 2025 to close existing gaps in the food value chain.

The second installment of the summit, sponsored by renowned food critic Gbolabo Adebakin (Chef Gibbs), aims at making Nigeria a culinary destination and will feature keynote presenters like Mr. Sadiq Rabiu, Mr. Kola Oyeneyin, Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, Diary of a Kitchen Lover, and the Kitchen Muse, among other practitioners in the sector who will deliver details regarding food systems transformation, opportunities for investments, and policy frameworks impacting the industry. Chef Gibbs, at a virtual press conference, brought to the fore the summit theme, “Making Nigeria a Global Food Destination,” in the sense of promoting Nigeria’s rich and diverse food culture and leveraging the use of the latest agricultural technology to drive business growth.

Chef Gibbs laid special emphasis on coordination in enabling Nigeria’s food industry to live up to its promise and establish an unbroken connection between farmers and consumers. “We have a rich and richly complex food culture yearning for international attention. In bringing about the Nigeria Food Summit, we are creating a platform which brings on board all stakeholders of the food value chain from the farmers to culinary professionals in an effort to ensure innovation, sustainability, and economic development,” said chef Gibbs.

The event, which will be held on March 21, 2025, at Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, will be an exciting experience for everyone. It will be preceded by industry priorities by experts in food technology, business growth, and supply chain optimization. Live cooking demonstrations and masterclasses will also be presented by Nigeria’s best chefs in molecular gastronomy, who will also be giving presentations of creative means of exporting Nigerian cuisine to the global marketplace.

A specially designated exhibition space will offer a bazaar for food tech entrepreneurs, farm suppliers, and culinary service providers, with a business clinic offering free consulting services in the fields of finance, branding, HR, legal, and tax consulting to food entrepreneurs. The highly anticipated Pitch-a-Ton competition will offer emerging food business owners the chance to win grants, mentorship, and investment to grow their businesses. Some of the industry players and organizations such as Q21 Solutions, Opportunik, Glovo, Opay, Sterling Bank, and Afro Flavor among others have partnered with NFS 2025 to ensure its success.

Q21 Solutions Chief Executive Officer Eunice Adeyemi was thrilled with the summit’s potential to revolutionize the food industry in Nigeria. According to her, the event is not merely a gathering but a movement that will redefine how Nigeria’s food industry is understood and tackled globally.

Among the summit highlights will be a food museum showcasing the history of food in Nigeria, exploring the culinary culture and artifacts of the various regions. Featured on display, as well, will be the live farm exhibit, with dialogue on sustainable agric practices and the farm-to-table concept being central to the future of the industry.

Besides putting Nigeria’s food culture into the spotlight, the summit will also address issues in the industry. Foremost among these will be having a strong food supply chain to prevent wastage and improve market access. There will be a bid to ensure that farmers and owners have direct access to each other, thus optimized production and delivery. The conference will also touch on technology utilization in agriculture, and this will be from agri-food logistics disruptors, digital platforms, and financial solutions.

With Nigeria continuing to wrestle with food insecurity and seeking to be a larger player in the world, Nigeria Food Summit 2025 is a needed platform where stakeholders can gather, learn, and drive policy to innovation. Hosted by Sterling Bank, Opay, Nestle, FMN, Mira, and WoodScope, Josien, and Glovo, the event will be welcoming thousands of delegates that include policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and food enthusiasts, making it a record-setter for the Nigerian food industry.
