In a chilling discovery that has shocked residents, police in Ogun State have launched an investigation after a dismembered female body was found stuffed inside a sack in Ogijo community. The grim finding was reported to authorities on Friday afternoon when local community leaders, including the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community, alerted the Ogijo Police Division.
The victim, described as a light-complexioned woman believed to be in her thirties, was found on a fenced farmland within the community. Responding to the report, police detectives led by the Division’s DPO rushed to the scene, where they made the horrific discovery of the victim’s body missing its head and both hands.
The remains had been wrapped in a sack, leading investigators to believe the location was used as a dumping site rather than the scene of the crime. Law enforcement has since secured the crime scene, and the victim’s remains have been transferred to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for preservation and forensic examination.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has taken personal interest in the case, ordering an immediate and thorough investigation to track down those responsible for this brutal act. In response to this disturbing incident, CP Ogunlowo called on parents and guardians to have serious conversations about security with their children.
He stressed that community cooperation and vigilance are crucial in preventing such heinous crimes.
