Gunmen have abducted an FRSC officer, Inspector Nathaniel Kumashe, in Benue State’s Tarka Local Government Area.
The abduction took place in the late evening of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, around 10 p.m. at Kumashe’s countryside home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor.
According to the sources, he was just back from a wake-keep for his late cousin, whose burial was scheduled for the next day when the kidnappers struck.
Eyewitnesses report that the kidnappers fired a few shots into the air to scare his family members and neighbors before they took him away.
Terrified by the encounter, youths in the neighborhood organized a search party in quick order, searching the neighborhood throughout the night, but the kidnappers had already vanished with the victim.
Confirming the kidnapping, FRSC spokesperson Ngozi Ahula informed journalists in Makurdi on Thursday that Kumashe is operating in Wannue, Tarka LGA.
The sources believe that the kidnappers could have taken him to a den in Guma LGA, which is a known criminal haven in the state.
