As Christians mark the beginning of this year’s Lenten season with Ash Wednesday, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on believers to use the period for spiritual reflection and intercession for the state and Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor encouraged Christians to reflect on their lives, global developments, and to pray for peace and prosperity in the state and nation.
Governor Oyebanji also emphasized the importance of unity among all citizens, regardless of political or religious affiliations, stressing that collective harmony is crucial for the development of Ekiti State.
Recognizing that the Lenten season coincides with the ongoing Ramadan fast, he urged both Christians and Muslims to embrace peace, love, and religious tolerance, fostering a more harmonious society.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security and development, Oyebanji assured that efforts would continue to make Ekiti a safe and attractive destination for investment.
“We wish all our Christian brothers and sisters, particularly in Ekiti, a successful Lenten season. We value your prayers and continued support for our administration and the state, especially during this sacred period,” the governor stated.
