Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has told his critics to let him concentrate on the people who elected him into office and not on frivolous and baseless discussions that will not add value to governance.
The governor emphasized that in the past 22 months, his administration has stepped into agriculture, enhanced education and restored security in areas where insecurity used to haunt people in the past. Governor Sani, who spoke following Iftar dinner with Kaduna Social Media Influencers at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House the weekend before last, disclosed that he is interested in governance and would never be distracted by engaging anybody.
He disclosed that the shortage of pipe-borne water supply that has been bedeviling Kaduna State over the years would be a thing of the past very soon, with a guarantee that water would be flowing in the 23 local governments within the year. The governor recalled that he had, upon taking over, proclaimed an emergency in the water sector because the capacity utilisation of the water supply scheme was less than 5%.
Governor Sani elaborated further that the capacity has now increased to 30 per cent and by the end of the year, it would be 100 per cent.
He described how his administration has paid salary arrears of Kaduna State Water Corporation workers amounting to N800 million, adding that ”we have paid electricity debts of N1.3 billion. We are retrofitting all small water supply schemes in all the 23 local governments.”
The governor further clarified how Birnin Gwari and Giwa local governments that were on the edge of insecurity in the past are now peaceful.
He reported that the Birnin Gwari cattle market, which had been closed for over 10 years due to security concerns, was reopened last November and trade is booming, “every day, more than 30 trailers load cattle to the southern part of the country.”
Earlier in a comment, chairman, Kaduna Social Media Influencers, Malam Adam Garba, thanked the governor for fasting-breaking with them, stating that this was the first time any governor has done such.
