Glovo, Lagos State, and She Code Africa Launch Women in Tech Bootcamp to Empower 100 Women with Digital Skills

In collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, and She Code Africa, Glovo has launched a transformative Women in Tech Bootcamp aimed at equipping 100 women with essential digital skills through fully funded scholarships. This initiative reflects Glovo’s commitment to bridging the gender gap in tech and fostering equal opportunities for women in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Lamide Akinola, general manager of Glovo Nigeria, highlighted the company’s dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce by unlocking untapped talent and driving long-term change within the tech ecosystem. The program, endorsed by Lagos State’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, is focused on empowering women to excel and lead in the tech industry, contributing to inclusive economic growth.

Ambrose-Medebem emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership in driving innovation and positioning Lagos as a hub for technological advancement. The program also aligns with global efforts to close the gender gap, with McKinsey’s 2022 report suggesting that empowering women could add $28 trillion to global GDP.

With the support of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, this initiative will provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and professional development, empowering women to thrive in tech and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
