Former RCCG Pastor Idowu Iluyomade Launches New Church After Controversial Exit

RCCG

Idowu Iluyomade, a former pastor of the City of David Parish under the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has launched a new ministry in Lagos. The church, named Family Fellowship, is located in Victoria Island, marking a fresh start for the clergyman.

Iluyomade’s new chapter follows his suspension by the RCCG board last year. His exit was tied to public backlash over his extravagant celebration of his wife’s 60th birthday, which many deemed insensitive as it coincided with the mourning of Herbert Wigwe, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in the United States.

The inaugural service of Family Fellowship was held on Sunday, January 19, drawing attention to his new direction in ministry.

Reactions to the development have been mixed.

@It_Chioma commented: “Church business will always thrive in Nigeria because people want to believe someone has the answers to their problems. Unfortunately, pastors use this mindset as a tool for exploitation.”

@philkikis added: “He’s not the first pastor suspended from RCCG, and he won’t be the last! Many suspended pastors have gone on to establish their churches. Most of these independent ministries started with RCCG experience. Go and verify!”

Others offered congratulatory messages, albeit with skepticism. @oluwasetomicute remarked: “Congrats to him for becoming the CEO of his own business. Now it’s all about pulling crowds.”

Meanwhile, @Mrklassiq_ joked: “I guess since RCCG suspended him, God decided to call him directly.”
