FG Cancels Kano–Maiduguri Road Contract, Re-awards Section 1 to Triacter at ₦124.4bn

The Federal Government has officially canceled the contract for Section 1 of the Kano–Maiduguri Road project and re-awarded it to Triacter Construction Company with a three-year completion period.

Senator Suleiman Kawu Sumaila of Kano South Senatorial District made the disclosure after meeting the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, in Abuja. In a post on his Facebook wall, Senator Sumaila commended the federal government’s action, stating that the road section had been a perennial death trap due to frequent accidents, loss of lives, and traffic jams.

The senator revealed that the Federal Executive Council approved upon his motion moved on May 7, 2024, urging the council to take immediate action. The new contract costing ₦124.4 billion will bring long-awaited relief and improved safety for travelers.

Sumaila appreciated the Senate, the Minister of Works, and President Bola Tinubu for the speedy response to the pressing infrastructure challenge.
