Fayose Backs Oyebanji, Predicts Clean Sweep of 177 Wards in 2026 Polls

Ekiti state governor

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has hailed Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s submission of his nomination forms in Abuja as a demonstration of political strength, declaring that the governor is poised to set a new electoral record in the state.

Fayose, who spoke on Wednesday, said Oyebanji would not only break his 16-0 record from past elections but also win across all 177 wards in the forthcoming governorship polls.

He further stated that the massive turn-out of political heavyweights that accompanied Oyebanji to the APC National Secretariat was a confirmation that there would be “no vacancy in Ekiti Government House until 2030.”

Despite not being a member of the APC, Fayose once again endorsed Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu, saying he didn’t owe anybody an apology for his political stance.

“By the power of God, not only will he beat my electoral record of winning in all the 16 Local Government Areas, but he will also sweep the entire 177 wards,” Fayose said.

Fayose admonished Oyebanji to keep his eyes on the ball by delivering good governance and dividends of democracy, while opposition aspirants are “mere storm in a teacup.”
