Popular entertainer and entrepreneur, Obinna Simon, known as MC Tagwaye, has announced his candidacy for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship ahead of the 2026 general election. His campaign slogan, “AMAC Must Be Better Again,” was revealed via a social media post over the weekend.
Tagwaye, widely recognized among the youth demographic in the Federal Capital Territory, stated that his decision to run follows widespread calls from AMAC residents. “I am running because of the call from the good people of AMAC and to bring transformative values that will make AMAC great again,” he said.
He outlined key areas of focus, including enhanced security, job creation, city digitization, upgraded schools and hospitals, timely payment of primary school teachers’ entitlements, and improved welfare for council workers.
MC Tagwaye, known for his philanthropy and contributions to youth development, has previously funded scholarships, renovated schools, and donated relief materials within the capital.
The primary election is scheduled for June 2025, with the general election set for February 2026. Tagwaye has promised to announce his political party in the coming days.
