Edo APC Chairman Defends Governor Okpebholo Amid Budget Presentation Blunder

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has defended Governor Monday Okpebholo following backlash over his budget presentation to the State House of Assembly.

Governor Okpebholo faced online criticism after a viral video showed him struggling to articulate the proposed 2025 budget size during Tuesday’s presentation. In the clip, the governor stumbled over the figures, repeatedly correcting himself before settling on “776 billion.”

In response, Tenebe dismissed the criticism as unwarranted, attributing the incident to human error. “Social media has been agog with our governor’s budget presentation about a mistake on 650 billion and the rest of it all. It’s a normal thing; humans make such mistakes,” Tenebe stated in a video message.

The APC chairman urged critics to focus on the substance of the budget rather than the governor’s delivery, emphasizing that such errors do not undermine his leadership or the administration’s plans for the state.
