The Delta State Government has reacted to a viral video of First Lady Remi Tinubu and some nurses during a giveaway ceremony, stating that the video doesn’t tell the full story of what happened.
The video, which came out on X (previously Twitter), captured a cringe moment during the event. As a song praising the First Lady was being sung, the crowd was to chant, “Na our mama be this.”
However, instead of chanting as required, they chanted back, “Na your mama be this,” signaling unwillingness to accept her in that position.
The exchange was reported to have taken place when Remi Tinubu was distributing giveaways to nurses, which received mixed reactions on social media.
Clarifying the scandal, a Delta State Government official stated that the reaction from the nurses was caused by a misunderstanding.
“We noted that there was a viral video that has a tendency of transmitting messages that are at variance with the actual situation of that moment,” the official stated.
He also clarified that the First Lady had accidentally donated the giveaway to the nurses instead of midwives, which created some uneasiness among the nurses.
“The wife of the president apologized to the nurses because this particular giveaway was for the midwives and not the nurses,” he further added.
