Afrobeats sensation Davido has officially released his long-awaited fifth studio album, 5ive, ushering in a powerful new chapter in his musical career.
Today, the 17-song album is being praised as his most introspective and emotionally intense to date.
Far from being an acknowledgement of his fifth body of work, 5ive is an exercise in processing loss, healing, and change on a personal level.
The album takes place during an extremely chaotic period in Davido‘s life having lost his son in 2022 as well as more recently welcoming twins into the world.
Describing the album as “a symbol of hope, grace, change, and growth,” Davido left his heart on each and every track.
He revealed that over 80 songs had been recorded in the process, with the final 17 being chosen with the help of his close friends and relatives.
5ive’s roster of international collaborators from around the world brings a mix of Afrobeats with R&B, dancehall, and world sounds.
Global stars like Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea, and YG Marley share the stage with Nigerian hitmakers Omah Lay, Chike, Victony, and ODUMODUBLVCK.
