Social media activist Daniel Regha has criticized the Nigerian Police Force for the arrest of a police officer involved in a viral naira abuse incident while sparing the billionaire sons of Chief Rasaq Okoya, Raheem and Wahab, who were also featured in the video. The video, initially reported by GistLover, shows the Okoya brothers handing stacks of naira to the officer and spraying the notes at an event. Following public backlash, the police arrested the officer for disciplinary action but took no action against the brothers.
Regha, known for publicly calling out celebrities and institutions, questioned the fairness of the police’s response. In a tweet tagging the police’s official account, he asked if Raheem and Wahab were “above the law” and reminded authorities of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act (2007), which explicitly prohibits the spraying of naira notes.
He also tagged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging the agency to act against the billionaire’s children for violating the law.
