A Jigawa State High Court No. 8 sitting in Kaugama Local Government Area on Friday convicted and sentenced three men to death by hanging for armed robbery and murder.
The Presiding Judge, Justice M. M Kaugama convicted and sentenced Suleiman Bello, Auwalu Muhammed, and Yakubu Muhammed to death by hanging on nine counts of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and armed robbery by using firearms.
Prosecution counsels led by the Honourable Attorney-General of Jigawa State, Musa Adamu Aliyu said the defendants were arraigned before the court for killing one Audu Saje at Manda village at Kaugama Local Government and stole his motorcycle.
He said the suspects also abducted one Hadiza Abdullahi of marma town in Kirikasamma Local Government and requested a ransom of one hundred and fifty million Naira.
Delivering his judgment, Justice Kaugama said the prosecution counsel had successfully proved the cases through circumstantial evidence of five witnesses that testified before the court.
He said the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th defendants have been sentenced to death by hanging for the offense of culpable homicide under section 221(a) of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State, death by hanging for the offense of Armed Robbery under section 1(2) of the Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Law of the Federation.
He said the judgment will serve as a deterrent to others.
