Comedian Bovi Reveals Why He Moved His Kids to the UK

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has opened up about his decision to relocate his children from Nigeria to the United Kingdom, citing concerns over the country’s educational system. Speaking on a recent episode of the Uncolored podcast, Bovi revealed that his kids have been living in the UK for the past two years, a decision that started somewhat unexpectedly.

Bovi explained that he initially sent his first son to a boarding school in the UK in 2021, believing that boarding school could help him develop independence—just as it had done for him while growing up in Nigeria. However, he deliberately chose a school abroad to avoid the prevalent bullying culture in Nigerian schools.

He said:
“My kids don’t live in Nigeria anymore. They have been in the UK for two years now. It started by accident—my first son has been there since 2021 in a boarding house.

“I went to boarding school in Nigeria, and it made me street-smart.

So I decided my child should experience boarding school too, but not in Nigeria, because the educational system here has normalized bullying.

Schools empower senior students to bully their juniors under the guise of discipline.”
