American rapper Cardi B is facing trial in Los Angeles over allegations that she assaulted security guard Emani Ellis in 2018 while pregnant.
The trial, which started on August 26, 2025, centers on claims that Cardi B spat on Ellis and made inappropriate comments toward her. Ellis testified in court about the alleged incident.
“She was jumping up and down, body-shaming me, using racial slurs, and a lot more,” Ellis told the court during her testimony.
The legal proceedings coincide with significant personal developments for Cardi B. On the same day the trial began, she finalized her divorce from rapper Offset.
The couple had a turbulent relationship that attracted public attention, with Cardi initially filing for divorce in 2020 before they reconciled. The split became official this year.
During the ongoing case, Cardi B has also confirmed she is now in a relationship with NFL player Stefon Diggs.
The trial continues as both sides present their evidence regarding the 2018 incident.
