Grammy-winning artist Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, joined Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, for Iftar, the traditional fast-breaking meal during Ramadan, at Dangote’s residence on Tuesday. The intimate gathering also featured renowned music executive Cecil Hammond, who played a key role in facilitating the meeting. A viral video from the event captured Burna Boy, dressed in a stylish navy blue two-piece outfit and a durag, exchanging pleasantries with Dangote and other guests at the dinner table.
Following the event, Hammond took to Instagram to share a photo from the occasion, captioning it:
“Bringing the legends together, one smile at a time.”
Burna Boy’s Growing Influence Among Nigeria’s Elite
This engagement comes just days after Burna Boy attended another high-profile gathering hosted by billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. Last week, Otedola hosted Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Cecil Hammond at his residence, describing the meeting as a celebration of Afrobeats’ global impact.
“A true privilege to host some of our biggest music icons,” Otedola wrote on social media.
Burna Boy: A Star Beyond Music
Since rising to fame with his 2013 hit ‘Like to Party’, Burna Boy has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most influential artists. His career reached new heights when he won a Grammy Award for ‘Best World Music Album’ in 2021 for ‘Twice As Tall’. Accompanying Burna Boy at both engagements, Cecil Hammond is a respected music executive, talent manager, and the founder of Flytime Promotions, an industry-leading company behind some of Nigeria’s biggest concerts and music festivals.
With these high-profile connections, Burna Boy’s influence now extends beyond music, solidifying his status as a cultural and business icon in Nigeria’s entertainment and economic landscape.
