Buhari Claims He Strengthened Nigeria’s Economy and Security During His Tenure

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that his administration improved the country’s economy and security during his eight years in office. Speaking on Wednesday at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari made these remarks while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel on a courtesy visit.

He asserted that Nigeria was in a better state when he left office compared to when he assumed leadership in 2015. Reflecting on his tenure, Buhari noted that his government inherited severe security and economic challenges from the previous administration led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, he claimed that his policies effectively addressed these issues, particularly in the fight against terrorism and economic hardship.

“Security and the economy improved significantly in Nigeria under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” he said in Hausa.

According to Arise News, Buhari also emphasized that only those in power fully understand the complexities of governance, highlighting the obstacles leaders face in implementing policies and reforms. During the visit, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, praised Buhari for his efforts in tackling terrorism, banditry, and other security threats. He also commended the former president’s dedication to national unity and selfless service.
