Benue Police Debunk Claims of Ritual Killings, Say No Evidence of Human Parts Market

The Benue State Police Command has dismissed reports of ritual killings in the state, stating that there is no intelligence or evidence to support such claims.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, confirmed that while other crimes persist in the state, there has been no recorded case of ritual killings.

“We don’t have intelligence reports of any human parts market in Benue. So far, we have not recorded any ritual killing; there are other crimes, but not this particular one. We are always on red alert,” Anene stated.

Similarly, Mr. Terwase Shagbaor, Founder of the Benue Patriotic Youths Movement, noted that reports of ritual killings in Benue exist only in the media, with no confirmed cases in the state. He urged youths to stay away from crime.

Supporting this claim, a motorcyclist, Agada Ogli, shared his experience, stating that despite working at all hours, he had never encountered any suspicious cases related to ritual killings.

While other forms of crime exist in the state, the police and local witnesses maintain that ritual killings and human parts markets are not among them.
