A beer parlour owner’s seven-year crime spree came to an end when sharp-eyed residents caught him red-handed with a stolen goat stuffed in his luxury SUV.
According to Linda Ikeji Blog, Ayo Akinpelu, 56, was driving his Lexus Jeep through Ipetu-Ijesa in Osun State when suspicious community members decided to search his vehicle.
What they found inside would expose a shocking criminal operation that had been running for years.
The Amotekun Corps arrested Akinpelu after residents tipped them off about his suspicious behavior.
When questioned, he couldn’t explain why he had someone else’s goat hidden in his car.
Under interrogation, Akinpelu revealed the full scope of his operation.
For seven years, he had been making regular trips from his home base in Ondo to neighboring Osun communities, specifically targeting goats for his business.
His method was surprisingly calculated. “I used salt to trick the goats and make them less aggressive before loading them into my car,” he admitted to authorities.
The stolen animals weren’t being sold – they were ending up as pepper soup on the plates of unsuspecting customers at his beer parlour back in Ondo town.
Yusuf Idowu, spokesperson for the Amotekun command, released details of the arrest on Thursday.
Isaac Omoyele, Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, praised the residents of Ipetu-Ijesa for staying alert and taking quick action when they noticed something wasn’t right.
