Nigerians on social media have expressed outrage after a viral video involving the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Rasaq Okoya led to the arrest of a police officer.  The video, shared by Raheem Okoya, a musician and one of the billionaire’s sons, shows the officer assisting the young men in handling large bundles of cash. In the footage, the brothers can be seen dancing and throwing money at each other while promoting Raheem’s new song, Credit Alert.

In a statement released on Friday, the Nigerian Police Force confirmed that the officer had been identified and taken into custody for disciplinary action. The statement emphasized that his behavior was unethical and contrary to the values of the force.

“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police,” the statement read.

However, the arrest has sparked heated discussions online, with many criticizing the Police for targeting the officer while remaining silent on the role of Chief Okoya’s sons in the incident.
