Atiku Abubakar Urges Nigerians to Demand Accountability from Leaders in 2025

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to hold public officeholders to higher standards of accountability as the country ushers in 2025.

In a statement reflecting on the significance of the New Year, Atiku emphasized that 2025 represents a fresh chapter filled with opportunities for national growth.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively monitor the actions of political leaders to ensure they fulfill their duties with integrity and respect for public trust.

“The New Year is not just a passage of time but a chance to redefine our national dialogue,” Atiku said.

“Every Nigerian must stand firm, ensuring that political leaders use their positions responsibly and are held accountable for their decisions.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader also expressed gratitude to God for the privilege of witnessing another year, describing it as an opportunity for hope and renewal.

Reflecting on the struggles of 2024, he urged citizens to embrace 2025 with optimism and determination.

Atiku highlighted the importance of collective action in safeguarding democracy, emphasizing that unchecked power and the abuse of authority must not be allowed to erode the nation’s liberties.

“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” he said, adding that Nigerians must remain united in their pursuit of good governance and resist attempts to divide the nation along ethnic or religious lines.

He noted that while 2024 was marked by significant challenges, the experiences of the past year should serve as lessons to strengthen the nation’s resolve.

“Our trials have fortified our faith,” Atiku said. “We must ensure that the power entrusted to leaders is not abused, and that the public good remains protected.”

Atiku expressed his hope for a revitalized Nigerian economy in 2025, stressing the urgent need to alleviate the economic hardships faced by citizens.

He prayed for a prosperous year, free from the suffocating grip of poverty, and called on leaders to prioritize the well-being of the people.

“As we celebrate the gift of witnessing another year, let us also remember those who were less fortunate—those who succumbed to the relentless challenges of life in our country,” he said.

In closing, Atiku extended his best wishes to Nigerians for a successful and fulfilling 2025, expressing optimism for a safer, stronger, and more unified nation.

“Let us move forward together, with faith in our collective strength and determination to create a brighter future for all,” the former Vice President concluded.
