Troops of 1 Brigade Operation Fansar Yamma have made significant strides in taming terrorism in Kebbi and Zamfara states, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, Commander 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, testified.
In a Sallah luncheon with officers, soldiers, and their families at the Brigade Cantonment in Gusau on Tuesday, Opurum praised the efforts of the army in returning security with sustained military operations, particularly Operation Forest Sanity III.
“Few months ago, the security situation was tough, but due to the perseverance of our troops, we have gained ascendancy over our responsibility area and significantly curtailed terrorists’ activities,” he added.
He commended the troops for their sacrifices and revealed that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved additional logistics support to sustain their operations.
Opurum urged soldiers to be strong in their mission, highlighting the necessity to completely eliminate threats and secure the North-West for peace and economic development.
We need to keep up until we have wiped all of the enemies of the state away and we’ve cleansed Zamfara, Kebbi, and surrounding states. Though we’ve done extremely well, there’s more to do,” he explained.
