APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Says More Governors Will Join APC Before 2027 Elections

The chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) believes more state governors will abandon their parties and join the APC before the 2027 elections, all because of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda made this prediction while speaking at an APC meeting in Bayelsa State through his deputy, Chief Emma Eneukwu.

He says governors, senators, and House of Representatives members are flocking to the APC because they’re impressed with Tinubu’s performance.

Yilwatda didn’t hold back in praising the president, comparing him to a lion that doesn’t get bothered by smaller animals making noise.

“When you have a lion and other small animals are barking, the lion doesn’t take notice. He goes about his duties properly—that is what the president is doing,” he said.

He pointed to recent defections like Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwore and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, who both left the opposition PDP to join the APC, as proof that Tinubu is winning people over.

The APC chairman was extremely confident about the president’s popularity, claiming that “even a blind man in this country will support him overwhelmingly.”

He also praised governors from the South-South and South-East regions for what he called “realistic and understanding” political decisions in switching to the APC.

“The President is not afraid to take bold steps. What others lack the political will to do, he accomplishes. He is determined to move Nigeria to greater heights,” Yilwatda added.

While the APC chairman dismissed opposition criticism as mere “barking,” it remains to be seen whether his predictions about mass defections will actually come true as Nigeria heads toward the 2027 elections.
