Abia State Government has concluded a 12-day capacity building exercise for 5,349 new teachers in Aba, ahead of the September 22, 2025, resumption date for the new school year.
In closing the training, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Goodluck Ubochi, appealed to the teachers to be dedicated to the government’s transformation agenda in the education sector.
The training was designed to well equip you with modern techniques, skills, ethical practices, and the right attitude for efficient service delivery,” Ubochi said, noting that it was a milestone in their career growth.
The program was organized in collaboration with the Education Reform and Innovation Team (ERIT). The commissioner asked the new teachers to take the knowledge learned to their classrooms and be humble in service.
Also in attendance, ERIT Aba Zone Lead, Victor Oko, urged the participants to embrace student-centered learning strategies and effective classroom management, while State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Friday Madu, described the training as a firm foundation for excellence.
In the name of her colleagues, Ogechukwu Okonkwo appreciated stakeholders and the government for the opportunity, and assured that they will not fail the confidence placed in them.
